Why do you come to work at Root & Rebound every day? I believe that once a person has paid their debt to society they should be allowed to join their community free from unnecessary barriers. Whether they need help finding employment, pursing education or securing housing I want to help more people realize their goals.

Why do you come to work at Root & Rebound every day?

I believe that once a person has paid their debt to society they should be allowed to join their community free from unnecessary barriers. Whether they need help finding employment, pursing education or securing housing I want to help more people realize their goals.

Amber Dean

Legal Programs Assistant

Amber is a Legal Programs Assistant at Root & Rebound and a Bay Area native.

She recently received a B.A. in Political Science and a History Correlate from Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY. While there she took courses on civil rights, implicit bias and intersectionality.

In college, Amber was a member of the organizing team for Movimiento Estudiantil Chicanx de Aztlán de Vassar (M.E.Ch.A.). M.E.Ch.A. works to secure political rights and provide opportunities for Chicanx people. Although Amber is not herself Chicana, she strongly believes in the importance of being an ally, and joined the organization to support a fellow classmate's efforts to safeguard Latinx rights.

Amber has also interned at Jen Brown's law firm in Poughkeepsie, NY which practices employment discrimination and criminal law. It was there that Amber first understood the lack of support services for historically disadvantaged groups within the criminal justice system.

At Root & Rebound Amber performs administrative tasks, client follow up and legal research.

In her spare time, Amber loves to travel and enjoys spending time with her two dogs Fenton and Girlfriend.
