Why do you come to work at Root & Rebound every day? I come to work every day because the people who most feel the effects of the law are often the people with the least capacity to access and utilize it, and because if a country can be judged by the way it treats the people it incarcerates, the United States has much to answer for.

Why do you come to work at Root & Rebound every day?

I come to work every day because the people who most feel the effects of the law are often the people with the least capacity to access and utilize it, and because if a country can be judged by the way it treats the people it incarcerates, the United States has much to answer for.

Emily Juneau

Staff ATTorney

Emily is a Staff Attorney at Root & Rebound. She received her J.D. in May 2015 from NYU School of Law.

During her time at NYU, Emily was a student in the inaugural Reproductive Justice Clinic and its follow-up, the Advanced Reproductive Justice Clinic, advocating on behalf of women jailed under sexist laws penalizing drug addiction. She was also a member of the LGBT Rights Clinic at NYU, which placed her with the Sylvia Rivera Law Project, a grassroots organization advocating on behalf of low-income, incarcerated, undocumented and otherwise marginalized transgender and intersex people. In that role, Emily was involved with asylum petitions, campaigning for reducing solitary confinement, and direct legal aid towards New York's disenfranchised gender minorities. Emily has also been an extern for the Chambers of Judge Reinhardt in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Emily received her B.A. in Economics from Smith College. She is an attorney licensed to practice law in the State of California.

Emily has an encyclopedic knowledge of two things: William Faulkner novels and X-Men comics.
