Conference: The Collateral Consequences of Criminal Convictions

  • University of Texas Law School 727 East Dean Keeton Street Austin, TX, 78705 United States (map)

Our Executive Director, Katherine Katcher, has been asked to speak at the 2018  Texas Journal on Civil Liberties & Civil Rights conference to discuss "The Reentry Landscape: Issues Faced by People Who are Formerly Incarcerated".

This panel brings together activists, practitioners, and criminal justice stakeholders to focus on the challenges faced by people leaving jails and prisons, and others living with criminal justice involvement, as they attempt to reintegrate into their communities. Panelists will survey key obstacles encountered, highlight innovative policy initiatives that seek to break down these barriers, and offer personal accounts of the reentry experience. The discussion will also touch on the role that prevention, pretrial diversion, and alternatives to incarceration can play in reducing systemic barriers to successful reentry.
