Why do you come to work at R&R everyday?: Because I believe our current criminal justice system often fails to set individuals up for success during their re-entry process and beyond.

Josie Diether-Martin

VISTA Development & Communications Coordinator

Josie recently graduated from the University of Redlands in 2018, where she received a BA in Sociology and Anthropology with a focus in social inequality and cultural integration. During Josie’s time at the University of Redlands she participated in the Inside Out Program, studying the school-to-prison pipeline with young men currently incarcerated in San Bernardino. While studying abroad in Denmark, she continued to study criminal justice and how various countries work to lower recidivism rates and assist in the re-entry process.

Along with her studies, Josie’s work as Co-Director of her campus’ Relay For Life event stimulated her passion for social justice and advocacy work. As an AmeriCorps VISTA, this is Josie’s first step towards a career in nonprofit work, and she looks forward to learning as much as she can from her peers at Root & Rebound during her VISTA year.
