Occupational Licensing

After being released from prison, a person’s employment options are limited due to their criminal record. A system impacted person should be allowed to grow, change and mature. However, occupational licensing denials are occurring even when the crime is not related to the specific duties of the job, not a amorphous bad feeling about a person or something they did long in the past.

People with criminal records are less likely to be hired due to the negative stigma that has been attached to having a felony. What a lot of employers do not know is that the likelihood of re-offense drops dramatically to normal population levels after 18 months. People with a criminal background
