Root & Rebound is reimagining reentry.

Reimagine Reentry is a campaign to educate the public about the devastating effects of mass incarceration and criminalization on human life. In the midst of harrowing statistics and systemic injustice, these first-person narratives amplify the strong voices of the formerly incarcerated and humanize the experience of reentry. They make clear the impact our broken systems and policies are having on individuals, families, neighborhoods, and communities. The personal stories of 15 remarkable men and women tell the collective story that we need to listen to, so that we, together, we can create change.

We are happy to share these films. Please contact us here if you would like to receive a copy of the Reimagine Reentry DVD, featuring the entire collection of interviews for yourself or to share with friends, family, or community members, or to set up a screening of the films in your area.

Many thanks to filmmaker, creator, and writer, Margaret Katcher, who made this film series possible, and the production team who assisted her: Sara Worth, Wesley Deimling, Hunter Bermudez, Claire Seaver.

Each week, Root & Rebound receives 150 letters from incarcerated men and women preparing for release.

"Letters From the Inside" is a short video that Root & Rebound released in December 2015, that brought these letters to life. We asked formerly incarcerated men and women to read aloud the powerful letters we receive each day. We hope this video inspires you.

Root & Rebound's Video Screening

The Reimagine Reentry screening took place at the Root & Rebound office on Thursday, February 18th, with more than 60 people in attendance. The night included the video screening and a panel discussion with the men and women featured in the video. See the Root & Rebound newsletter here for more information on the night. You can find more photos of the event here.

Please share the video campaign on social media! @ROOTandREBOUND #reimaginereentry
