Summer law clerk
Varsha is a summer law clerk at Root and Rebound. She is currently a rising 2L at the University of Washington School of Law in Seattle and William Gates Public Interest Scholar.
Before going to law school, Varsha's served as an advocate for victims and survivors of gender based violence and the criminal justice system. She worked at Columbia Legal Services serving formerly incarcerated clients through legal clinics; directed student diversity and violence prevention efforts during her undergraduate years, conducted comparative ethnographic research on sex work in areas where it was legalized and criminalized. Most recently, Varsha was working and living in Cambodia as a Luce Scholar on gender based violence prevention with a local non profit. During her 1L year, she has continued her passion working with communities of color and folks impacted by incarceration through the Immigrant Family Advocacy Project and the Incarcerated Mothers' Advocacy Project.
In her spare time, Varsha can be found cooking for friends with the music turned all the way up, planning a trip, savoring the words of Rupi Kaur. She hopes to return to the Bay Area after graduating.
