Root & Rebound’s Central Valley team presents: “Uplifting Voices: Centering Most Impacted Voices in Advocacy.” Join us from 5 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. PT on Tuesday, March 16th. The Central Valley is home to the Prison Corridor, Highway 99, as it hosts the highest concentration of state correctional facilities, a higher rate of people committed to prison than nearly every other part of the state, and thus a large population reentering from prison or jail at any given time. The Valley is also home to the world’s largest female prison, the Central California Women’s Facility (CCWF), and leads in incarcerating women in the nation.

Our panel of advocates and directly impacted folks will address strategies for supporting communities, specifically women and TGNC populations. The discussion will focus on the specific barriers communities in the Central Valley face, as well as ways to surmount those obstacles.

Thank you to our sponsor: Fresno State Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies.
