Human Resources Director

Compensation: $118,000-$127,500/ year

Position Overview

Root & Rebound (R&R) is seeking an experienced and dynamic Human Resources Director to lead and manage our HR functions and ensure alignment with our mission. The HR Director will be critical in fostering a supportive and inclusive work environment, driving strategic initiatives, and ensuring compliance with legal and organizational standards. The HR Director will also play a pivotal role in cultivating a staff-informed culture that reflects our values.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy:
● Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives that are deeply aligned with R&R’s mission and values.
● Serve as a strategic partner to the executive team, guiding organizational development and workforce planning.
● Lead efforts to build and sustain a staff-informed culture that embodies inclusivity, collaboration, and respect for all voices.

Employee Relations:
● Act as a trusted resource for all employee relations issues, ensuring that every staff member feels heard, valued, and supported.
● Foster a positive, transparent, collaborative working environment that empowers staff to contribute to R&R’s mission.
● Engage in proactive communication and relationship-building with staff, particularly during sensitive periods/organizational changes.

Recruitment & Onboarding:
● Oversee the recruitment process, ensuring that R&R attracts and retains skilled staff that are aligned with our mission and values.
● Develop and implement holistic, inclusive onboarding programs that support new employees’ successful integration into our team.

Policy Development & Compliance:
● Ensure that all HR policies and procedures comply with legal requirements and reflect R&R’s values of equity and justice.
● Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, ensuring all HR practices are conducted with integrity and transparency.
● Manage compliance with employment laws and regulations, focusing on upholding the rights and dignity of all R&R employees.

Training & Development:
● Design and implement training programs that promote professional growth, leadership development, a deep understanding of justice-focused work, and skills enhancement across the organization.
● Support managers in identifying professional development needs and creating personalized growth plans that reflect the values of R&R.

Compensation & Benefits:
● Oversee the development and management of competitive compensation and benefits programs that are equitable and just.
● Regularly review and adjust compensation structures to ensure fairness and market alignment.

Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DEI):
● Lead DEI initiatives, ensuring all HR practices and programs are inclusive and equitable.
● Promote diversity in hiring, retention, and advancement within the organization, ensuring that R&R’s workforce reflects the community we serve.

Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree or HR certification and/or 7-10+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5-7 years in a leadership role.
● Demonstrated experience in building and sustaining a staff-informed culture that reflects the values of equity, justice, and inclusivity.
● Strong understanding of DEI principles and experience implementing DEI strategies in the workplace.
● Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and credibility across all levels of the organization.
● Experience working in non-profit or mission-driven organizations is highly desirable.
● Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

Currently, Root and Rebound offers medical, dental and vision insurance and a retirement plan(403b)for employees. We have a generous vacation plan and close for two weeks in late December to early January.
