Aaliyah Jensen is a 20 year old Political Science major who attends the Merced Community College. Being able to discover her passions for advocacy, social justice, and social change at 13 years old, she has worked with multiple non-profit programs like Girls & Womyn of Color and WeCed Youth Media.

Before coming to Root and Rebound she did a fellowship at Communities United Youth Restorative Justice organization that focused on policy work around the prison system and law enforcement led by youth impacted voices such as herself.

At Root and Rebound she is a part of the FRWEI team led by Claudia Gonzalez and DeJone Watts. Aaliyah focuses on building relationships and capacity with reentry services/providers focused in the Central Valley.

In her free time she enjoys being a dedicated dog momma and catching sunsets for her picture album.

Why do you come to work at Root & Rebound every day?

I come to work at Root & Rebound everyday because I believe that reentry work, especially for underprivileged communities, is so important. Root & Rebound allows me to help people while also building capacity and partnerships.
