Taylor graduated from the University of Colorado in 2018 with a B.A. in Education and Human Development and a focus on Special Education. She gained experience in case management and student advocacy through her four years of student teaching in the Denver metro area. Her interest in legal advocacy and policy reform within the carceral system began while working in Title I schools, where she saw the widespread impact that over-policing and mass incarceration had on students and their families. Following graduation, Taylor spent a year working at a government school in rural Nepal as a Fulbright scholar. She has also worked as a research assistant for multiple projects, most recently with a group formulating an amendment to the education clause of the Colorado Constitution.

As the Client Liaison/Social Services AmeriCorps VISTA, Taylor will be supporting the legal team with caseload management and client communication. She is excited about the opportunity to develop her interest in client support and legal advocacy with Root & Rebound.

In her spare time, Taylor enjoys outdoor adventures, cooking, and seeing live music (sans COVID).

Why do you come to work at Root & Rebound every day?

Because any step that can be taken to help individuals surpass the mountain of barriers that they face in reentry is a step in the right direction. Because I believe in both the power and necessity of education, client advocacy and policy reform. Because I want to fight alongside system impacted community members for the structural change they deserve. Transforming our criminal justice system is only possible with the community power-building framework of organizations like Root & Rebound.
