RAP Sheet Evaluator
Use your analytical skills to screen clients’ conviction histories for record clearing remedies. Help with the first step in record cleaning by reading conviction histories and evaluating for record cleaning eligibility. Find more information here.
Client Interviewer & Declaration Draft
Work with clients to draft compelling declarations to demonstrate their humanity and
rehabilitation for inclusion in record cleaning petitions. Find more information here.
Clinic & Hotline Client Intake
Volunteer attorneys trained and supervised by Root & Rebound staff will assist individuals who have had contact with the criminal justice system to identify and remedy legal barriers to their success. Volunteers will conduct legal intake and screening with clients, and help disseminate general legal information. Find more information here.
Legal Research & Writing
R&R’s legal team educates systems-impacted people, their families, social service providers, other stakeholders about reentry legal barriers and how to overcome those obstacles. Learn about specific writing projects or legal questions in need of research, and volunteer for projects as you have interest and capacity. Find more information here.
General Volunteers
Social Service Resource & Referral Volunteer
Root & Rebound is looking for a volunteer to help our in-prison program team. This volunteer will find, organize, and refer high-quality and up-to-date resources to currently incarcerated people looking for social services upon their release. This opportunity is for someone interested in social work or working with people involved in the justice system. Individuals with eight hours available per week are preferred. Spanish Language Translation
Root & Rebound is looking for fluent Spanish-speaking volunteers to help our attorneys and advocates interpret and translate legal services through our intakes and Free Reentry Hotline. Interested applicants will help be the lifeline and support for those suffering from the consequences of mass incarceration. Individuals available Fridays 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. will be given strong preference. If interested, please fill out the general volunteer application below.
